I was born and brought up in the south west of Scotland and educated at Kirkcudbright Academy and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. After training and qualifying as a Chartered Architect I practiced architecture in and around Edinburgh, Galloway, the Scottish Borders and in Shetland for over 30 years.

I'm addicted to hunting for interesting objects on beaches, some of these finds are incorporated in my jewellery.

I'm a member of the Scottish Society of Architect Artists, Veer North (Shetland Artists) and The Company of Incidental Artists (Shetland Artists Group). I'm chairman and a founding trustee of The Belmont Trust which has saved and restored a category A listed Georgian house on Shetland's northernmost island, Unst. Belmont is now available for holiday accommodation and a venue for various events.
