About

I was born and brought up in the south west of Scotland and educated at Kirkcudbright Academy and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. After training and qualifying as a Chartered Architect I practiced architecture in and around Edinburgh, Galloway, the Scottish Borders and in Shetland for over 30 years.

I now spend my time in a small red studio making silver jewellery and painting watercolours.

Architecture: Award from the Association for the preservation of Rural Scotland, 2020, for the design of my own house and another in Shetland. The houses feature in 'The Anatomoy Of The House', an exhibition and publication by The Lighthouse, Scotland in 2020.
I'm chairman of The Belmont Trust which restored a category A listed classical country house in the Island of Unst, in Shetland. The project gained the award for the best restoration of a Georgian Country House in Briatain from The Georgian Group in 2007.
